I use them for embroidery floss- the skeins get too knotty for me.
If I had more than I could use I'd give them to preschool for threading games.

What a great idea. Bet there are hundreds out there. Please share yours too, if you have one.

LOL! How funny - - I do the same thing! We'll probably find them under the couches and chairs when we Spring clean.

So funny Katy, No I definitely don't need more clutter, but I think you have a cute idea of how to use the empties.

I take the biggest wooden spool I can find and glue it to a little piece of scrap wood,
...and maybe paint it with nail polish
IT MAKES A GREAT HOLDER FOR A SEAM RIPPER!
Put them in sharp point side down, - especially nice for those little ones!

If they are wooden, they can be stained or painted and hot glued together and a ribbon hanger attached and used to hold circular needles. It lets them hang free instead of being folded up and put in a zip lock bag. They are easier to use this way and are more visible for use. Straight needles can be put in a vase for easy exposure. So a knitter might like to use them. Or you could make a nice gift for a friend or family member who has given you a nice quilting item or do one for yourself.
