I own a parrot, so I make parrot toys out of them by stringing them together with leather pieces, my orange wing amazon (Tiko) just loves to play with them.

Yes, so do mine! They resurrect them in the middle of the night and find the only rooms in the house that aren't carpeted, the kitchen/dining room and bathroom and bounce them around until the whole house is awake! That's when they get thrown.

I have lots of wood spools that I save. They are getting more scarse by the minute so I want to keep them. I put them in a decorator jar with a lid and they're part of my sewing room decoration.

Used to use the wooden ones for my doll house furniture. Now, I just recycle the plastic ones.

My cats love empty spools and find them fascinating toys -- esp. Scoot, our 9 month old gigantic kitten.

I keep mine for my kitten to play with. If she has an empty spool, she's less likely to bother the full ones in use on the sewing machine.

Make a small chair to sit a plant on. Or sit it on a shelf.
Here's how:
Put various sized spools over four 1/4 wooden rods, glue first and last. These are the legs. Glue legs to corners of a small board. Add three or four more spool covered rods to one edge for a back. Top with another narrow board or another spool covered rod, glued in place.
