The endless jelly roll quilt

Just as an FYI - I just finished making one of these - the strip part - not the borders yet. Took my tote that was filled with 2 1/2" batik strips that were assorted lengths (mostly FQ lengths and WOF, but some shorter than that) and took out colors that really didn't "go" and just started sewing until I ran out of the colors I had selected. As I selected fall colors, I am now in the process of preparing an assortment of leaves in fall colors that I will be fusing and then appliquing onto the top in sort of a "leaf-blown" pattern. Then I'll add my border and place a few smaller leaves onto the border and the center pieced top. Will post pics when I get all that done. Some great ideas on this post of how to make this pattern alot quicker/easier to do. Never thought about doing this in panels. Sure would have been alot easier - especially when I had to do the pressing part. LOL

TonnieLorree, What do you mean you use the same method for your Bargellos. I've made one Bargello and while is absolutely beautiful, my eyes were crossed by the time I finished it. I want to make another one but I'm looking for a way to make it easier the next time around!

Does it really matter? Aren't you going to cut it when you get there?

I've called my rainbow batik one "Joseph's Coat of Many Colours". It's a very cheery top, and probably brighter and more varied than I would have allowed myself to make it if I had thought about each individual strip.
The spontaneous, unplanned side of these quilts is really part of the attraction, to my mind.
I'm still deciding on borders, though, and wondering if I need them at all. Not sure about how to quilt it, either.
What has everyone else done?
