    Question Enlarging the giant dahlia

Has anyone tried enlarging the giant dahlia beyond the usual 56"? The patterns I've seen and the one I have are for the 36" dahlia and the 56" one with fancy borders to enlarge it to make a king-sized quilt. But I really don't like the border look on this. Instead I'd like to enlarge the dahlia itself to 80-90" and omit the border entirely. Has anybody ever done this or know how to do this?

Since the original pattern is from 1935, I don't believe I'd be messing with anyone's copyright. This is probably my all-time favorite pattern and I want to do something special for it.

I've used Staples, but found a source online that was cheaper and also good.

If you don’t mind drafting your own accurate pattern pieces, then give it a go. It is not something I would want to attempt.

I don't think it would be that hard, just add another round or two of the petals. Since they form an arc, it does not look like it would be that hard to draft up.
