You can legally install EQ on more than one computer. The license merely requires that you only USE it on one computer at a time. See this site for more info about the license. http://www.electricquilt.com/Help/PreventPiracy.asp

I use EQ6 all the time, for every quilt I make and for almost every one that I think I might make someday. I don't buy as many patterns, because I can look at a picture of a quilt and draft it into EQ6, and then change it any way I want. The software isn't hard to learn, and there are excellent tutorials in the software. The best thing about it, for me, is that it helps me to visualize the quilt before I make it.

I went through the tutorial in the instruction manual, but haven't really used the program much. I'm going to take a class on it when I'm on a quilting cruise in the spring. I am hoping that will get me motivated to used. At present, I have not gotten my money's worth! I really did try to learn it from the book, but seems pretty involved and I need to use it a lot more than I do to remember HOW to use it! I really am pretty computer literate so that isn't an issue.

To be honest I use it every time I see a quilt pattern I like. I can redraw any block in EQ. It's simple to do. At the last big quilt show I attended, some vendors had the rule no one was allowed to have pen and paper or to linger and study a quilt that was hanging in a vendor booth and certainly no pictures. EQ makes it so easy to do the same pattern mostly because the designer used EQ to design it in the first place. :D Mostly I use it to make the blocks smaller or larger and to show the rotary cutting.

I use mine several times a week. Many patterns that I have seen, I can put them into EQ and reconfigure the blocks quickly to eliminate Y seams, convert it to a paper pieced design.. resize blocks quickly.. I have even reconfigured paper pieced designs to suit me.
I enjoy sitting down once in a while and doing nothing but playing with different blocks, configurations... I have come up with some very simple blocks with stunning results...
You do need to sit down and use it for a couple of weeks...read the manual and do the lessons..they are well written and practice makes a difference in learning and retaining...it is easier than when I first tried to learn the computer and the first program I ever downloaded and tried to learn.
I do not subscribe to any magazines anymore, with what is available online, I can draft whatever I want...that has MORE than paid for the program. I check out books for free from the Library for inspiration, and occasionally pick them up used or online if it is a "Must Have" LOL

If anyone gets or already has this program, and there is a part of the manual you don't understand, post a question here... There are many of us who would be more than willing to help you out :D :D :D

I use mine at least once a week. The other morning I got up and somehow the cats has opened it on my computer. How funny is that. I have never regretted getting it. My only regret is I didn't get it sooner.

I don't have EQ, but I do have Quilt Pro. I teach quilting at the local adult education and use the program A LOT. I not only design projects, I write instructions and use the program to illustrate each step.
I have heard that EQ is better than Quilt pro and have ordered a copy. I'm waiting for it to arrive. If you want, I will keep you posted on which one is better, IMHO

I have EQ5 that I purchased used on ebay. I was allowed to register it in my name, so the cost was minimal and it came with the extra books. I love it! I don't use it to it's capabilities but what I have figured out lets me create so many ideas. I need to see how the colors look and being able to switch colors and save them to compare is wonderful. I also like being able to resize the blocks or add borders etc to make it come out to the correct size I need without doing any math! On my lunch break I can play with it at work (so it doesn't cut into my sewing time at home) and I save the patterns to a flash drive that I carry back and forth. It's kind of like making a quilt without sewing (granted you don't have a quilt when you are done but you have a pretty picture and no fabric costs) I think you can also print out a picture to make a card if it's a gift or
put it on the label. It saves me so much time when designing my own. Good luck in your efforts to justify the purchase, I feel it was worth it. Here's one I just did today (3" blocks in 1930's material)
