    Default EQ7 just purchased and downloaded. Now what?

    I looked over their site and am feeling a little overwhelmed as to where to begin. I will go back and try to find a basic tutorial on getting started (I found a beginner class but it was in 'university' and I am not ready for that!).

    If anyone can point me in the right direction, thanks in advance.

    Back to browsing the EQ site!

    just start taking the lessons. it does have a bit of a learning curve. the EQ site forum is a good resource

    Learning this and becoming proficient is my goal too. Rhonda was amazing in doing this:

    I spend a few hours a week just playing with it and getting comfortable, I find the free classes on the EQ website very helpful and will probably take a few online paid classes as well.

    Thanks Nancy and Lisa! I found videos in the actual program (as opposed to the website) and have viewed the introduction! I think playing with it is exactly what I need to do... Off I go!

    Best thing I did was to take the digital manual to a copy shop and have it all printed and bound.

    If you haven't found them yet, under the Help Button in the EQ7 software there are printable PDF Lessons for you. I'm working my way through them right now and find them quite good so far, but it's early yet ;o). This is my second attempt to get a handle on it, as my first attempt I was having difficulty wrapping my head around the approach the software takes and find it less intuitive than I expected. I'll be interested in hearing how it goes for you.

    Play, Play, Play. One of my great learning tools is to not use the blocks given, but to recreate them using EQ7. Love this program for designing and resizing what I have. the more you 'play' (another word for use) it the better you will get at it. I still have lots to learn too.

    they have intro videos that you can watch right in the software. I watched them all in under an hour and that really helped.

    I just bought it about 2 weeks ago, and have had lots of fun designing quilts just for fun, and playing around with them.

    One of the things you can do is find a quilt you want to make (an easier one) and design it on the EQ ...

    I've already figured out how to make my own blocks, change the layouts, change all the colours, rotate blocks, flip blocks, etc. It really is fairly simple once you get the hang of it!!!!

    I had some pink and purple fabric, and played with these layouts to find one that I liked:

    Then, I took a quilt that I had already made, figured out how to make my block (arcs) and then designed the quilt in EQ7. It took me a bit longer than I would have liked, but I did it in under 2 hours ... not bad for just having it under two weeks.
