    Hello,

I have an even feed foot, but the instructions that came with it are
inadequate. Can you explain how to attach it to my sewing machine and
use it? I would like to start with the most basic straight stiches
along the seams of the quilt pieces.

    Many thanks,

    Sunny

Depending on what type of machine you have, you will have generally a slot in the top of the presser foot that slides onto the shank of the machine. There is also another little gizmo sticking up from the bottom of the foot that has to sit onto the screw that holds your needle in place. This is what makes the foot move at the same time as the needle and there is also another piece in the presser foot that will come down and hold the fabric in place. Sometimes, dropping the feed dogs makes this easier. Slide the foot onto the shank, but tilt it slightly to get the extra little piece to rest on that screw. then tighten it in place and raise the feed dogs again. Not hard but it might take some wiggling of the presser foot to accomplish tis. Good LUck :!: :-)

Please don't forget to turn off the machine first!

What do you mean, Steve, unplug the machine. . . keep my foot off the pedal?

    Thank you, Vicki,

Now I just have to complete the fancy pot holder that is my first attempt at quilting before I get to work on the real projects for my two grandsons.

Oops, I forgot my quilting name is Sunny. Apparently there are lots of Carols out there. Here in sunny Arizona, I would seriously rather be in the mountains or on the beach!

When I attach my walking or even feed foot, I have to take the "ankle" off to allow for the walking foot to be put on. This involves loosening the big thumb screw. Also, make sure the bar on the right side of the even feed foot that moves up and down is on top of the needle bar which also goes up and down with each stitch.

    Clear??? Suzanne
