I played this afternoon. Had one more block to assemble and BAM...no bobbin thread. Like aashely333, I can tell when the bobbin is out by the sound of the machine or when I see it isn't actually stitching. I don't have any modern machines. Currently, my newest machine (Singer Stylist 457) was most likely built in the 70s.
