I made my grandson a quilt with Walmart $2 fabrics when he was 8. He's 12 now and it is doing just fine. He's not taking care of it, just using it like a kid uses a blanket. He uses it; he told me he likes it because he watched me make it.

I made his brother one the following year with a combination of Walmart and lqs fabrics. You can't tell which fabric is from where. He doesn't take care of his quilt, either...but he sure does love it!

Both have 'new' quilts on order...and they picked out the main fabrics at Walmart!

Take the fabric. If nothing else it can be used for pet bedding. You just have to either re-donate or make 'pillow cases' that are stuffed with fabric and then sewed shut at both ends.
