I just use it as I need it.

I don't cut until I'm ready to piece blocks or cut borders. I collect used cardboard bolts from a local fabric shop (they keep them for me instead of throwing out) and then I can wind the fabric onto the bolt until I'm ready to use. Makes cutting easier when I am ready to cut.

I do not cut my fabric but roll it onto cardboard and use just what I need for the project. I also use the length if I want it for a full border.

If it's just 2 or 3 yards, I leave it as it is, just fold it to store it. You can still handle a 3 yard piece. When I bought 12 yards of Kona Cotton, I made a generous cut after some eyeballing. Worked out fine.

I do NOT cut it in pieces. I would fear I would be short as I cut out my quilt.

Absolutely not - I may need that length for borders!
