So back in the beginning of February IrishNY posted Fabric Depot was having a batik sale. I go to the site, see some stuff I can't live without, place my order. Get my email confirmation then nothing. A week goes by and I email them to ask if my order shipped. Nothing. On Monday I get a call from them (thank goodness I had the day off and was home) telling me that two of my selections were out of stock and the buyer had selected a substitute was I willing to take that? I thought that was odd. I said there is no way I can accept a substitute sight unseen and they should email me a picture of the fabrics so I can decide. I also asked why it took them well over a week to contact me about it. The woman said they were really busy. I am still waiting on the email with pictures. I have never dealt with this particular on line company before. I thought it very odd they would want me to accept a substitute batik sight unseen and also that it would take them so long to tell me two fabrics I selected were out of stock. What do you guys think? Is it odd? Have you ever had an online fabric retailer want to substitute without you even seeing the fabric??

Send an email to Debbie at [email protected]

She jumped right on my complaint and made sure that I was happy with my order...

I think that the folks at Fabric Depot will do whatever they can to make you happy!

I just got off the phone with them. OK how is this for awesome customer service... They had me choose ANY batik substitute I wanted, didn't even have to be on sale. That is good service!

I ordered quite a lot of fabric from Fabric Depot on Feb 6 and got an e-mail "Thank you" (and an order #) dated Feb 6, then I heard nothing more from them. Their on-site shipping info. says to allow extra time when there is a big sale or holidays, so I waited ... and waited ... and waited.

Yesterday, I called and talked to Debbie and she researched and called me right back with date shipped and tracking number. She was very puzzled as to why I never received the "automatic" shipping info. e-mail.

To end this long story, I received my entire order yesterday and it was perfect.

I also ordered from FD and they called me to say one of the batiks was out of stock, asking me what I wanted to do. I told them to pick another in the same color and surprise me. I don't know which is the substitute fabric because I loved them all when I got them.

I figure it might be a way to get me to use a fabric that I might not otherwise pick and keep me from getting in a complete rut of color choices.
