Fabric Moritorium Challenge-March
The object of this challenge is to use your stash and not spend money on fabric until November 2012.
Any one can join at any time.
You can purchase
backing
binding
fabric if NOTHING in your stash will work. (Consider trading with a quilting friend)
thread and notions
fabric purchased on a pre-plan such as BOM
Some are doing conditional variations.
only for 3 or 4 months
or a GREAT sale
or lose a certain amount of weight and then they can purchase fabric as a reward.
Come on and clear out some of that stash, save money, make room in your sewing space for all the pretty new fabrics next year.
If you fell "off the wagon" last month just rejoin this month

Well, I slipped off the wagon a bit. The Rochester Sewing Guild had their annual "yardage" sale. I didn't do too bad but bought a couple panels for making bags and a couple pieces, just because. Also bought several purse pattern at 50 cents each. Didn't spend much money, but had a ball.

I'm still with you. I had looked at some fabric from fellow board members last week, I thought, I've been goood too long. Wow, did that ever come back to bite me (so to speak). Monday my brand new (had it since June 2011) Viking Sapphire 875 started clunking. I called the rep and he said bring it in and I'll have a look. Well something about alignments and cams and gears...OHHHH. It will be a week or more. Went to get my Janome 6600...Error 1...off to the service guy for that. Went to get my featherweight ...it has no bobbin racer...ordered that. So as you can see...there will be no fabric for me. I may become the official spokesperson for the Fabric Moritorium as it has been probably 3 years that I have been living out of my stash with the exception of thread and batting...I want to go fabric shopping (LOL)

I did buy a couple of specialty rulers last month. I will probably need to buy thread this month. I bought a roll of batting last November so hopefully that will be good for a while. I am considering doing the Hoffman Challenge, but if I don't get an idea soon will pass that up. The guild has a challenge that will cost $10 that I may pick up at the next meeting. I missed the last 2 meeting so will only have a month to complete it. I did place second in the challenge a couple of years ago. (My avatar) so would like to give it another try.

I've not bought any fabric since August 13, 2011. Then again, in that time frame I DID inherit my best friend's stash, but I didn't buy it, so that doesn't count. I vow now to buy any fabric AT ALL, until I've used up half of what's in my room now. At last count, I had 360 yards on bolts and 22 kits of fabric and patterns put together. So I won't be buying for a LONG time.

I've been working on a couple of UFO's. One will need an accent fabric. Not sure I'll find anything I like in my stash. I'm hoping a fat quarter in my stash will be enough.
How are all of you ladies doing?
