And here so many were hurt when WalMart stopped carrying fabric! Geez it will be bad with prices rising even more! I am very blessed to have a lg stash but will be stocking up on wide backing (Kona Muslins) and solids real soon!

I was in Hancock fabric yesterday and they had their quilting cotton on sale for $1.99 regularly $4.99. They also had a table of solids for $1.00 but they were not 100% cotton. There were no signs I did not know until I checked out.

Just got home from an all day shopping trip to our friendly LQStores.. everyone was having a sale, and I bought more than I had thought I would.. Perhaps that was a good thing!! oh, one more thing, most of us are on fixed incomes.. the only ones I know who get more than they did last month are those that have finally found a job! Higher prices are hard on everyone, but at least I have income coming in! For that I'm still grateful.

I live in Houston, Tx and there are a gazillion quilt shops in Houston (not counting HL or Hancocks, or JoAnn's) and I try to buy fabric from them, but when I go to PA. where my daughter lives, I go crazy. At Hershey show last year, there were 3 booths right at the front door with Batiks only for $6.00 a yard and I never got out of there. I had to ship it home I bought so much. I'm not stupid. Since most of the colors look so much alike--how does anyone know what age it is. If you think things are bad now, wait till our "estimed leaders" pass Cap and TAX. Better sit up and take notice. Enough now

Trouble is: I think we don't support our LQSs, one day they won't be there. Then we will only be left with budget fabric stores, with no 'better' fabrics for our future heirloom quilts. Unless you are like me and they are all heirlooms. LOL.

You know, I don't understand their reasoning-they have fabric right now that they can't sell unless they discount it really low. What makes them think they can sell more expensive fabric? I know it probably isn't their fault, but somehow something has got to happen with the sewing/quilting industry or sewing/quilting will become a lost art.

Does anyone buy material from Hobby Lobby? They seem to always have fabric on sale for 33% off.

I don't think Hobby Lobby really has a sale for 33% off - I think they jack up the price, "drop" it 33% and call their regular price a sale.... because it's ALWAYS 33% off...

which isn't to say that you can't find some neat stuff - and if you can find the closeout aisle with a lot of fabric you can make a killing...
