Our WalMart is remodeling and it is all a mess, but it will be worth the inconvenience if they will bring back the fabric and sewing supplies. We have no other source closer than a Hobby Lobby over 50 miles. Others are further. We can hope.

    thanks for letting us know!
And you too will become a great quilter,it just takes time, practice, practice, practice!
i have no idea which stores will see fabric return. But that is the beauty of this message board. We are spread out all over the country and cand report back to keep a running list. Perhaps we should add a thread to the board that lists all the Wal mart stores with full service fabric and or pre-cuts? So for example a post would say Chadron NE Walmart - fabric has expanded since july. We could all add to the post - what do you think?

Excellent idea. Perhaps we should also list the ones that do not.

Here is an excerpt: “Over the last four years, Wal-Mart has gradually removed fabric from its stores, and now operates approximately 1,800 stores with full fabric .... down from approximately 3,300 stores in 2006. Until recently we expected Wal-Mart to remove the full fabric department from approximately 1,000 additional stores….Wal-Mart management is now changing its fabric plans. They cite customer requests for the product and an opportunity to drive incremental traffic. …Finally, Wal-Mart plans to selectively add full fabric back where customers asked for the product. At this stage, no formal rollout plan has been announced.”

Isn’t this wonderful? I know I have missed the fabric department at Wal-Mart!

It would be wonderful to hear back from you if and when you see changes in the wal-mart fabric department. Pictures of the return would be even better and could help move this process along. I also suggest that you voice your opinion to Wal-Mart store managers about the loss of fabric. They seem to be listening again – YEA!

looking forward to hearing from you
    Great news! Thanks for posting!

Here in Charlotte, N.C. we don't have anything on bolts just precut at in the stores I have been in. We have one in Gastonia that has some on bolts, I asked if they were going to keep it and they said when they remodel the store they will do away with it. I hope not.
