Have fun on your cruise! I just booked one yesterday for April. Only 10 weeks left to wait! :)
We are going on Holland American this time - maybe they will know something. The last couple of cruise we went on were on Carnival ships (out of Tampa) - the only thing the Port Shoppers wanted to tell you about was Diamonds International and Tanzanite International - They really didn't have or know that much info on anything else.- which was a BIG disappointment- I had asked about Henckel(sp) knives- they told me that Curacuo was the best place to get them -and what store to go to, but either they didn't know or just didn't tell me that knives could not be brought aboard ship, they had to be shipped to you.- Decided I didn't want them THAT much.

No matter what ships you go on( I go Cunard) the only shopping info is about diamond and tanzinite. I reckon these people are employed by these companies. And, no, I have never come across any quilt shops in these islands. I once went on a tour to a so called batik factory, but all it was, was a tourist trap with a tiny little display area and the rest was a shop with garments. Not a recommended trip as far as I think. I cannot remember what Island it was.

We took a 2 wk cruise for our Honeymoon - 30+ yrs ago - They actually told you what was good on the islands - but now a days your correct it seems that if you are not into top end jewelry they really don't want to talk to you.
They don't understand that I just want to buy fabric
