Fabric Storage Opinions
#41
It's great to read so many different ideas about storing fabric. Since I've had the wiring installed I have had no issues whatsoever with too many wire lines in my fabrics. The best thing about creating this closet is that I can close the door and no light or dust gets in and I can see everything at a glance. All the plastic boxes are marked clearly with what's inside so I know just where to find everything. Of course I have more fabric and storage in my sewing room...at least it's organized.

Wood can stain the fabrics ... so make sure its a polyurethane finish, that has cured for several days before any real volume of fabric is placed on it.

White melamine shelves that adjust and so you can add more of them than come with the shelves . Clean, no worry about staining and easy to wipe dust off if needed. Heavy enough that you don't need to attach to a closet wall but if outside the closet, you might attach so they don't tip out and land on some one, like grandkids who want to climb up to see what is on the top shelf. If they are in a room remember that sun can fade the fabric so cover with something to protect from sun and dust. Jan

Your rooms looks almost exactly like mine! I love the wire shelves, I can see what I have and they make the room look brighter as compared to wood. Plus I think the fabric can breath better with the wires. I love the plastic shoe boxes for storage, I printed lables for all of mine and I can actually find what I'm looking for!
