Yes, guilty of "saving" beautiful fabrics for????....I had a strange piece of wild fabric that I just loved and I finally convinced myself that I could not be buried with it and used it in several quilts. Boy, I saved every little scrap and I still love it in every project. Now I just remind myself how much I loved that first fabric in all the projects I used it in and grit my teeth and cut it up. Now that I am 81 nothing is sacred!

YES! Just recently I purchased a piece that will never be cut. How it will find a use in its life is yet to be determined!

I agree! And oh so very easy to do - can anyone say grid paper?

I thought I was the only one that had that issue. Good to know I'm not alone.

Since I'm doing it as a surprise it had to be pretty quick to piece, then I'll have to find ways to get him out of the house to quilt it.

That's just the pattern I need. Unfortunately I need it in a king size.

I have a lot of fabric that I love so much I won't cut into it. Like a beautiful painting to me. Not crazy, not a hoarder, but the pattern/color lured me into wanting it for my collection. Maybe one day I'll get tired of those fabrics in my " art collection" but until then I'll keep looking at those pieces, refold them from time to time and appreciate the happy little feeling I have inside just looking at the darn stuff!!! LOL.

I used to feel a bit uncomfortable when certain quilting friends would tease me about my large fabric "stash" that I refused to cut into until someone on this board explained it isn't a stash, it is a collection! Now I buy with abandon for my "collection" and have no worries about using it, lol! Besides I have daughters who quilt so when I'm gone they will have a hey day.

I've felt this way. One piece especially I drooled over for years and kept putting back into the stash. Then, the perfect pattern came along to highlight the fabric. I cut and made it and am so very, very happy with it. Don't fret about being afraid to cut your favorite. When the right pattern comes along, you will know. Then, you can enjoy it forever as you use or display it.

My problem now is that my BFF says it's her favorite among all the quilts I have made. May have to knuckle under and give it to her one of these days.
