    Here's the one I did. The roots are my [paternal] grandparents; the branches are my father's generation, and the leaves are my generation. The bare branch is for the one uncle (out of five) who lost his life serving in WWII. He liked music, so I added the bird for him.

    If I had a family tree - I would use this .... easy to do and quite lovely. Thank you.

    JDavis Your design is wonderful, and I like the way you embellished your uncle's branch too. Where is your quilt now?

    Thank you, Gelsood, newbiequilter and starshine! I didn't mean to hijack this thread!
    The quilt is about 24" x 40-something". Right now it is hanging on my quilt ladder. I'd like to hang it in my family room someday.
