Fannel for Rag Quilt
Where is the best place to get a lot of fannel?.I'm making 4 fannel rag quilts for Christmas and I'm trying to get it all gathered up but I need to find a place where I can get a good price for a lot of fabric.I looked a at a Hancocks store and they didn't have a good selection.I've been looking on line.

I agree fabric.com is a good source but JoAnns is probably your best bet for price and selection. They have their Snuggle Flannel on sale all the time. Be careful and purchase enough to allow for a shrinkage and allow for the wide writing on the selvage. Hancock fabrics has a good selection also.

JoAnn's has a nice selection in store and on line. Yes, some of it is thinner than others so you have to watch. Be sure to allow for shrinkage. I also have found some nice heavy flannel prints at my Walmart for $3 a yard. They wash up nice and fluffy. I'm in the process of making some flannel rag quilts also.

you do not normally Pre-wash your flannels when doing raggy quilts- you want the fraying to happen after the quilt is finished. if you are concerned about pilling cut a small piece off from your yardage & wash that to see what happens-
generally thin- one sided flannels pill, heavier- double sided flannels do not.
