Looking for piecing? Sashiko? Applique? Don't have a favorite book, but this is my favorite Japanese book seller on ebay:

Not affiliated, but I've ordered from them several times and have been very happy with everything. Most Japanese sewing books are light on instruction (which is in Japanese anyway) so these are good for experienced seamstresses. The up side is that the bag books I've purchased have patterns for dozens of items.

I don't find these books to be any different than our books, except the problem is in Japanese which is difficult to understand the instructions. Are you looking for patchwork books of Japanese patterns. If so I don't believe there is such.

Sorry about that, let me me a bit more specific. I was looking for some books to go with a Japanese quilt exhibit. I do have some classic titles in sashiko and added Sylvia Pippen's book for flavor. I was hoping there was a Japanese quilting book to add to the mix. So far all I have found are craft books with maybe one simple quilt mixed in with many craft projects! Thanks for your help this is turning out to be an interesting search!

I have a few and I like the ones "Japanese Quilt Inspirations" by Susan Briscoe, and "Asian Elegance: Quilting
with Japanese Fabrics And More" by Kitty Pippen. Both are available on Amazon.

I went thru a "Japanese" phase, collected several Japanese patterns and books and here are a few that I liked:

The Changing Seasons - quilt patterns from Japan - by Jill Liddell; Honoring the Seasons - quilts from Japan's Quilt House Yama - by Takako Onoyama; Circles of the East - Quilt designs from ancient Japanese family crests - by Kumiko Sudo; Japanese Inspirations by Janet Haigh; and, Fabled Flowers - innovative quilt patterns inspired by Japanese Sashiko and Origami Traditions- by Kumiko Sudo.

    Hope this helps.

I love Kumiko Sudo! I was lucky enough to be able to take a class from her based on the Fabled Flowers book. What fun!

I second and third Yoko Saito. She does beautiful work. Her projects use japanese taupes for the most part.
