Going leaf peeping next week and hubbie says we can find QS...who hoo! Any favorites in these cities would be appreciated: Flying in to Boston then up to Maine, NH, and Vermont. Thanks for sharing.

    Camden, ME
    Bethel, ME (near NH border)
    Lincoln, NH
    Waterbury/Stowe/Waitsfield area
    St. Johnsbury, VT
    Rutland, VT
    North Adams, MA

If you're coming all this way, you can't leave without stopping at Keepsake Quilting. Allow a lot of time to wander aimlessly before you get your senses back enough to actually shop. It's only 36 miles from Lincoln.

And, I have to tell you, you've picked a super week to come. I was up in Lebanon, NH (VT border) this morning and the trees are going to be prime in no time at all. It's gorgeous already and is only going to get better! Have a safe and happy trip.

ETA: This is NH specific, but ME and VT tourism probably have similar foliage report pages.

A brand new shop just opened up in Williamstown Mass which is right next to North Adams. It is on route 7 going south just outside of town. http://www.karensquiltcorner.com/
I haven't been yet but their vendor booth at the Bennington quilt show was very nice. I liked a lot of what I saw and the prices were reasonable. The ladies were very friendly and nice.

Unfortunately the shop in North Adams closed due to a mold issue in the building. Very sad

While here you are just a stones throw from Bennington Vt where the famous Dear Jane quilt is on display right now! Your DH might just enjoy the museum as well.

http://www.vermontshophop.com/ Here's a list of shops in Vermont - come visit ME at A Quilter's Garden in Montpelier, Vermont - I work on Thursdays. Otherwise, visit Mad River Quilting in Waitsfield. There aren't any shops in Rutland or St. Johnsbury. If you have a reason to travel thru Chester, VT the shop there is a MUST stop location.

We stopped at Keepsake as well as the shop in Chester a few weeks ago, both were very different but great. We are headed back through a week from Friday and I hope we can stop at these again!

have fun on your trip, too!

    Sew Portland http:// www.sewmaine.com (Portland)
    Cotton Weeds http://www.cottonweeds.com (Freeport, Maine...just north of Portland...home to LL Bean which is open 24 hours/day 7 days/week 365 days/year...they never close)
Mainely Quilts http://www.mainelyquilts.com (Kennebunk, Maine...just south of Portland)
Kathie's Quilt Shoppe http://www.kathiesquiltshoppe.com (Sanford, Maine...southwest of Portland)
Quilt Shop @ the Rostay http://www.rostay.com/quiltshop.htm (Bethel, Maine)

    New Hampshire shops:

Keepsake Quilting http://www.keepsakequilting.com (Centre Harbor, NH...south of Lincoln, NH) FABULOUS shop!!!
North Country Quilters http://www.ncquilt.com (Plymouth, NH...just south of Lincoln)
Moose Country Quilting (603) 538-6671 (Pittsburg, NH) at the very top of NH On "Moose Alley" (Route 3)

Vermont shops: Can't help you with these. Sorry.

New England is beautiful at this time of the year. The leaves are just starting to turn and should be near or at peak next weekend. Definitely check with the state (link in previous post) to see just what the leaves are doing.

Have a wonderful trip! I'm very lucky, I get to see the glory of fall in New Hampshire every year! I just have to look out my windows at my 6 acres of trees.

Love the strange terms you used. What is leaf peeping please. No help for shops as I live in UK.

Leaf peeping is going through the New England states in Autumn to watch the beautiful turning colors of the leaves.

Thought of a few more shops:

Portsmouth Fabric, Portsmouth, NH (if you are driving up I-95 from Boston to Maine, you will drive through Portsmouth) http://www.portsmouthfabric.com

Pinestead Quilts, Lincoln (don't know if they are still in business, but worth trying since you will be in Lincoln)

One Stitch Two Stitch, Littleton, NH (just north of Lincoln) http://www.onestitchtwostitch.com

    Again, have a great trip.
