I recommend a bigger needle, too - size 16 topstitch or jeans needle. What you said in the quote above though is very intriguing to me. Can you PLEASE tell us more about using the stitch regulator with your Brother (or send me a pm?)? I have a frame, but no machine for it, yet. I plan on getting one this summer and am wondering if I should get the stitch regulator right from the start. Would love to hear your opinion. Thank you! :-)

I just got my stitch regulator when my machine starting acting up. I would definetly get the stitch regulator from the get go. It has been much easier. I am going to go order some needles and thread right now. Hopefully I will be back on the road again. Its terrible to have new toys and not be able to play. LOL

You may need a bigger needle. If the eye is to small the thread will force its way through the eye and fray, it will!

I never have any problems with YLI threads, I also like King Tut and Signiture THREADS. Make sure your needle is fresh and clean out any lint in your bobbin case.

    Hi happyquiltmom,
I recall you told me about Presencia thread which I had not known about when I asked about your Bernina record 830.
I didn't win the 830 I was after so lashed out and bought a 750 QE.
I came across some Presencia thread at a local quilt store and it quilted beautifully.
I use one colour in the bobbin to blend with the backing fabric and a different colour for the top. The results have been amazing and tension perfect so far.
However it turns out I was using La Paleta which is a 35wt Rayon.
    Topstitch 90/14 needle.
I didn't realize there was a cotton thread, until I was sent a free spool by my supplier.
This rayon is fuzz free, strong, has a lovely sheen, ties off well and buries beautifully.
I like King Tut and YLI also. It depends what look I am after.
I did read somewhere rayon wasn't any good for quilting.
I can't recall why not and I would be grateful if anyone can enlighten me.
