Embrace the pattern, embrace the fabric and know that there will be more patterns and more fabric. What would you rather say: I have enough fabric to make X numbe of quilts, or I madeX number of quilts?

Thanks Mad Quilter, I just may have to do that and let everyone here give the boost I need to lay the fabric on the cutting mat and pick up the rotary cutter

You are not alone. I bought many yards over last year, and it took me until this month to cut some of it.

Some of my fabric is just fine to use and others seem to have a hold on me. I just can't bear to cut into it.

MamaBear you are so not alone. I started quilting in '97 and still have some very nice fabric I bought a bolt of. LOL I also decided that this is the year to get busy and use my stash, good dishes and whatever else I have been saving. Life is short & I am going to enjoy what I have from now on out. If I use all of the fabric that I really love, there will always be more at the LQS to be bought. If I break a dish, I can always replace it. Enjoy it now while you can.

There is actually a quilt pattern called Just Can't Cut It --- I don't have it, but I need it --- for all the large print floral fabrics I just have to have but hate to cut. lol

No, you are not alone. I sometimes have a hard time too, I think, "what if I found a better pattern for this later?" I need to get over it. I do shop from my stash a lot but some pieces are more special than others.

Thank you for starting this thread...how wonderful to find that there are sooooo many of us with fabric issues! I don't really mind buying fabric...or taking a break from buying fabric...but, when it comes to using my fabric....oooooh, now that gets tough for me. If I have a planned project it is easier...but it has to be a really good project. But to cut a bit from a fabric that I may have as little as 2 fq's or as much as 10 yds...I just can't do that...the fear of having not quite enough for the perfect project stops me cold! And my older fabrics are even more special to me...I can't hope to get more of those. Long ago I admitted to being a fabric collector...I bought fabric just because I liked looking at it...I didn't intend to use it for anything...I would love to be okay with changing my mind about this now...perhaps I'll work on this...there's definitely been some good posts that might make that goal easier. Again, thanks for the thread!

use it all....then you have another excuse to go shopping again! There is always that fabric that is so nice that you just have to have it...and then you go shopping again and find another fabric you just have to have..so my moral of this story is you must create to keep the cycle going! :lol: :lol: its the material life cycle!
