I can't keep it as I decided which of the 8 machines I wanted the most as we are going to go into our rv and sell the house. Retirement is really making me make choices.

You should use it and see if you don't fall in love with it. They are hard working little machines that are dependable, easy to maintain and love to go with you ! Went to a quilt retreat last weekend and our table of 5 was all featherweights and there were a couple scattered around the room. We all have bigger, newer machines at home but our little featherweights go with us to retreats. And if for some reason you do not fall in love with her you will not have any trouble finding a home for her. I have 2 and love them both. I bought the 1st from eBay and then a cousin gave me her mother's machine and the card table that goes with it.

I have 3! A 221 and two 222K's. They have the freearm. As far as "only sewing a straight stitch", I have found that usually I only sew a straight stitch. And I sew clothing as well as quilty things. I have the latest and greatest Janome 11000 in my sewing room and a lovely Babylock serger. I tend to sew on my Singer 301 and my Featherweights. They are trouble free, easy to maintain, all metal so they won't wear out, and great to tote around. I have one at the trailer most times because space there is limited. I would think very long and hard about selling a little gem like a Featherweight. I won't part with mine, and expect that they'll outlast my modern computerized machines, which I likely will not replace.

JLM is correct that you can do a ton of neat things with the attachments. I don't have one but I even hear that there is a zig zag attachment.

I sewed on mine for 6 hours straight on Saturday guild sew-in with no problems other then having to refill bobbins.

If you decide to sell it, you will not have a problem finding a buyer.
yes there is a zig zag attachment, it actually holds the fabric and moves it back and forth (sp) I have one and i do not recommed using it as is really stresses the machine. a short run in a class is ok but for any longer area i use my BERNINA 1630 or if it is an edge my serger. IMO you should hang on to that FEATHERWEIGHT with both hands !!!!!!

I have one....and since I got it last Christmas, my other machines are just sitting. I absolutely love, love, love mine. The computerized machines are nice, but nothing can beat this little workhorse for straight stitching. I think if you sell yours, you will, in time, regret that decision. Since it is so small, set her up and piece a top in her...then decide if you want to part company....I think after using her, you will see the value and fall in love like all the rest of us FW lovers have.
