I was just in Va last wk and if u had posted this then, would have met up with you to see it and possibly brought it off you !! I love mine and saving it for Gd's who wants to inheritance it...I paid $180 for the black and $30 for the white one. Also have an extra case, in case I ever found machine w/o an case :wink:

In May I made a graduation quilt completely on one of my FW's that was born in 1937- 74 yr. old machine making a full size bed quilt, it sews beautifully my newest FW was born in 1936.

Your machine is, or will be, an heirloom. Pass it down to your children, or if they don't want it to your husband's nieces/nephews that might give their eyeteeth to have their grandmother's machine. If you do decide to sell it, try to sell it to one of them first.
Don't sell it...use it! If you have other machines that do fancy stitching, great! But how much do you actually use that fancy stitching over "just a straight stitch"?

I would give up my Bernina before I would part with my Featherweight!!
I'm so glad I got one, (now 4 hee hee) I used it all the time- even my oldest son saw it and said "Wow, that's beautiful"
As someone else said it sews and sews and you just need to change the bobbins (easy) and give it a drink every now and then.
I just got one for my daughter-in-law- cant' wait to give it to her!! :D

If you sell it you'll probably want one in the future and regret your decision. Ask me how I know. I sold a PERFECT Featherweight when relocating, then when I tried to replace it a few years later found it impossible to find one in the same condition that didn't cost double or triple what I had sold it for. They sew a perfect straight stitch and are so portable and quiet.

Don't sell it until you really think about what you have there. If zig zag stitches are important to you, you can find a ZZ attachment on eBay every once in a while. I bought one on there and all the cams over time but find if I need to ZZ anything, I use my Bernina 440QE. My featherweight is just for sewing straight seams and heavier fabrics when needed (jean repairs for my husband's work clothes).

KEEP IT. I have 10 Featherweights and love them all. They are one of the greatest machines ever made.
I use them for quilting as you don't get as nice of a stitch with the zz machines.

I have to say you all have given me lots of great info. I have a industrial singer with an extra lobg arm I have made about 30 years ago with a hugh motor. It does straight, reverse and zuig zag, so I still think I am going to sell the featherweight. I had it gone through but I still use my other machines and it is very sad.....I love sewing but have to downsize.Treadle machine, first western electric wooden case, 6 needle, etc. What choices
