I love my featherweight! I see it everyday in my sewing room, but it has been awhile since I've used it. I think I need to clean it up and sew on it real soon. Thanks for the thread.

momma5750, although it would be nice to start three gdd's out on featherweights, it's probably more practical to start them out with Janome machines. If you don't like the "Hello Kitty" version, the same machine comes in plain white:

Check out the reviews. Just be sure to get the 3/4 size machine; the 1/2 size machine is more of a toy and not as good.

Edit: Just a note. If the product is "sold by and shipped by" Amazon, it is very easy to return it to Amazon within their time period (which I think is 60 days, but check) for any reason. If the machine is defective, Amazon will cover the return postage.

I have two featherweights. I love them. On Mondays there are 6 of us that get together at my home to quilt. 4 of us have featherweights, awe what sweet music they make!

I just remembered another good reason for one. I like to sew bags and other similar projects. My 6600 is great but with really bulky seams, I get a lot of skipped stitches and the thread jumping out of the take up lever, even when I thread that part backward (which is supposed to reduce that). My 3500 has trouble as well, but my featherweight will tackle those thick seams just like that. I had to use it today when my 6600 failed. So I greased and oiled it up and it went over those thick seams so easily.

They're so cute!!!!! and they really sew well for such a small machine. I love mine.

We fell in love with them to the point where DH now sells and services them. I have 5 FW's in my personal collection. Two 301's ( one tan, one black). And yes I take turns sewing on all of them. I like the new 1/4" plastic Little Foot for a presser foot and purchased a electronic foot controller for those 4 day retreats cuz my foot gets tired pressing on that little button all the time. Plus 5 vintage full size Singers and 3 treadles. All of which rest in my living room when I am not sewing with them. I also love my new Bernina 880 but the FW sews just as nice a straight stitch as it does.

It sure is beautiful, they are rare, but I have seen them for less than that. Momma5750, you might check on a 301, they are one step away from a 221 and can be found for less money. I bought my first one from a local service man for $75, but that was five years ago before they also became popular.
