May be too late to help you this week-end, but before purchasing a machine, please consider this: If you are going to machine quilt your quilts with your home machine, a deeper throat is much better. Most machine makers are making these available now, and I wouldn't buy a new machine without this feature.

i also have the janome 6600 and i love everything u mentioned and also the built in walking foot, that is wonderful.

It was one of the items on my checklist yesterday. I don't think less than 7" would be acceptable for me. :)

    Thank you

I suppose part of your equation is how much you are able/willing to spend for this machine.

Another thing to consider - how easy is it to maintain - what is it's track record for needing repairs?

I have finally settled for a machine and should have it in hand by the end of next week. I am getting a Baby Lock Quest Plus which I hope will last me 25 years just like my last one. :)

Thank you all for your valuable input.
