I usually spend $10 - $50 a month. I not only shop at Joann's.....I shop at thrift shops, flea marts and yard sales. It's amazing what you can find. I also recycle clothing that the family no longer wears. I recently made several long sleeve shirts into short sleeved shirts for my Dad. I have some nice shirt fabrics now to incorporate into my quilts and projects.

We had a quilt shop hop in our area last month, and i spend over $100. And last year I remember spending over $200. So I cut back a little this year. And as far as monthly, it depends on the month, mood, and sales. Its an addiction but I love it.

I usually try to keep it at about 50 or less and I have learned to be a great bargain shopper. I buy most of my fabrics on line theough Thousands of Bolts and Bear Paw Quilting. I do support my LQS's when I need something specific like tools or magazines. etc. I found that these 2 sites have some fabulous material for $3-5/yd and shipping costs are not any more than it would cost me to drive to the LQS's which are at least a 40 mile round trip for me. Also, I love getting those packages in the mail.
I get a lot of donated fabric from friends and from people in my church for charity quilts so not all of the fabrics I have in my sewing room are technically mine but I do combine them so I can color coordinate the quilts I make for our prayer quilt ministry and the charity quilts I make for the 2 guilds I belong to. I feel so blessed to have found this hobby and my many quilting friends. They are all in my prayers even if they don't believe because they have pulled me through some tough times.

I'm not sure I want to add it up. It probably adds up to 100 to 150 per month. Sometimes more, sometimes less. Wow thats a lot but that is the only thing I spend money on besides food, clothing, shelter, automobile - no bingo, no casino, no tupperware. When I don't have any money like when I have to pay the property taxes I don't spend any on quilting.

I don't know, it totally depends on sales and what's going on. The first three months of this year I spent over $1,200, maybe more, I refuse to count. That's cause one of my favorite stores always has a huge sale on the 1st of the year with fabrics for $1.69 a yard, they continued it through the 3rd and then announced that they were closing the store and started a 40% off and then 60%, then 70 etc. I bought hundreds of yards of fabric cause I figure that I will never get a deal like this again. Then there are events, such as Road to California, I usually spend $200 or $300, in June we have a quilt run and there goes another $2-250. On "normal" months I only spend about 50 - $100 or so. I use mostly cash so it's not too traceable.  I don't think I really want to know how much I spend. I'm sure I have enough fabrics to last a couple lifetimes, but somehow I always see something that calls my name or that needs to join the other fabrics I have cause.......

There was a time when I was busy having and raising babies that I could only buy enough fabric for the maternity, baby clothes, or quilt for the new little one. I am fortunate now to be retired and hubby still works a good job. I spend more than I should. More than I can ever live long enough to sew. Someday my daughter-in-law and granddaughter will inherit it all. I probably spend $200/month, sometimes more, especially when we go to springfield to see kids and kidletts. My favorite fabric store is there and they have an excellent selection of printed quilt back fabric up to 120 in wide.

I've been gone from this board for a year because we moved to a different state, bought a new home, and I've been absorbed trying to set up a new household, not to mention a new sewing studio!

I just buy when I know what I need when I'm working on a quilt or getting ready to work on one. So average about $25 to$30 a month . The most I ever spent was on some material to make the drapes in my dinning room and curtians for the kitchen window and that was about $100.00. They look nice though  :D :D
