Finishing ideas

The colours are very "now". I'm sure she'll love it. I don't think you need to spark it up colour wise, but maybe a little wider border to make it look "finished". What about the banana yellow colour? C9P

This is a lovely quilt. I would leave the borders white rather than colored. Not that you asked but I think the borders are fighting with the rest of the quilt. Sometimes simple is best and this is an example of simplicity at it's best. Well done.

Honestly, I think it is simply beautiful. It has a straightforward, clean design, which is just what you said she likes. The only thing I might add would be some of the red to the border if you want to give it more color. But truthfully, it is a very pretty quilt just the way it is! Not everyone goes for loads of color and prints. This is one of the classics if you ask me!

The quilt and the cat go together so nicely, maybe you should keep it for her! Beautiful as is, if you really want to add a drop I'm picturing a row of just the diamond blocks without the star points, and a wider, perhaps double, border and binding of the dark green. Does DIL know you're making this? If so, maybe ask what size she'd prefer?
