Finishing one top before starting another?

No, sadly I still don't finish one quilt before starting another. By the time I'm nearing the end, my head is full of ideas for the next one and that drives me to starting on the next quilt. Sometimes, if a piece is long and time-consuming, I may start two or three before I'm completely done with the first. It's not a good habit though, and I'm trying to be a little more systematic these days. Trying; not always succeeding.

I have one UFO - my Grandmother's Flower Garden and the a stack of 10 quilt tops, binding, and backings waiting to be made into sandwiches for FMQ. I am currently working on the fireplace quilt for the 4th and then will spend a couple of days on the floor getting those sandwiches made.

I often get the urge to start another quilt before getting one done. If I gave into my impulses, there would just be cut fabric, lot's of UFO's and then each time I went to finish one the urge would be to start another. I focus on one at a time

The following is a Memorial Tribute I wrote for my friend, Rose, when she passed. She was a quilter and did beautiful work. It conveys what life is all about.
A STEP AT A TIME
I'm glad life is given us bit by bit,
In minutes, and days, and years.
If we were faced with the whole of it,
How filled it would be with fears.
With all its laughter and its pain,
Its sorrow and joy and care,
Why, even its beauty all at one time
Would be more than we could bare.
But God drops a bit of happiness here
And lowers a shadow there.
Each of us has his portion of both,
The bitter and the fair,
And whether the way be rough or fine,
It's a comforting thing to know
Just one step to take at a time,
Just one little day to go.

I am making a bunch of quilt tops right now then when I get these done I am going to make my sandwiches all at the same time and spend the winter months quilting when the added weight will be nicer to work with.

I have at least 3 quilt tops in different stages right now. I have one im quilting, one that needs to be finish sewing the rows together and i'm starting a new one. Then there are the couple i'm waiting to find just the right backing to put on and a baby quilt I need to finish the binding on.
I do get bored so have to move from thing to thing. I have some embroidery going of celtic animals that if I finish them they will become blocks in a quilted wall hanging.
I don't think you are alone in this delimma
