If you are doing a scrappy border like gsbuffalo did, I would put it on muslin just for the sake of keeping your row straight. If you are just putting a solid border on, I would not worry about backing it with muslin. As GS's quilt has the green inner border, it probably is not backed either. Things should be just fine.

Looks great! Colors are popping and I totally get what you mean by feeling like it's a free quilt. I loved doing my first string quilt from scraps. Yours doesn't need a border. I think just white binding would be cool because it would give the illusion of white triangles on the edges.

Great project for when you want some mindless sewing. I used muslin for the foundation. Question: since I used muslin on the blocks, would a border look and feel weird since that is not on muslin? Should I just bind it and not put a border on? I really like the idea of using scraps and am looking forward to doing more! It almost feels like a "free" quilt!
