I visited my first ever quilt shop this afternoon! http://www.zoestrunk.com/ It was so much fun! They had tons of fabric and books and patterns. I wanted to load up my car, but alas, I bought nothing. Still trying to finish up two quilts and I wasn't sure what my next project will be. Bummer! But I'll definitely be back!

Prior to this, I've only shopped at Joann's. The quilt shop had a totally different feel than Joann's. I like Joann's (especially during sales) but I really liked a whole store devoted to quilting. The atmosphere was more cozy.

Thanks for all the inspiration on this board! I can't wait to figure out what I'll be working on next. :D

I know what you mean about the cozy feel. When I go to our LQS I could just stay all day long. It's like I think I'm going to absorb quilt knowledge through my pores.

Once you start going to LQS you realize the difference in customer service compared to Joann's. The owners get to know you and are like becoming part of this board. Very friendly.

Go to JoAnn's only for supplies because of rude store manager and she has 2 teenage boys that work weekends that know nothing about nothing. LQS is like a gang of old friends, even when we are traveling. It is always an Ahhhh moment when I go into a new to me LQS.

winterpromise31, zoes is a great shop. another one you may want to visit is mulqueens in mesa. top quality fabrics at great prices. if you pick up the free newspapers at resturants and dr offices etc there are often coupons for discounts. most fabrics are $6.95 a yard. i stocked up and had a 40 off coupon. i only use jo anns for notions now. there is a quilt show in mesa this weekend at the community center. you'll have fun and see some fantistic quilts if you get a chance to go. don't be intimidated by them. most who enter have been quilting for a long time. my quilt chapter, the strawberry patchers has a raffle quilt that is great. the chances are only $1.00.
