Flannel backing and FMQ- not sure

I often make flannel quilts. They look wonderful and I really like the weight of the quilt.
One caution when working with flannel. Wash/dry it (hot water) prior to quilting it. There is a lot of shrinkage with flannel....4-6”. (You also need to allow for the shrinkage in planning how big the back should be). Sometimes I wash mine a couple times, but mostly I just wash it once in hot water and dry it on a hot setting.
