Not long ago someone shared some pictures of some really cute baby blankets she made with crocheted edging. A lot of people asked her what stitch she used and how she did the corners. She didn't respond. Does anybody else know how it's done? Maybe someone that has made one too?

    Thanks.

I crocheted the edge on a fleece blanket.

I use single crochet for the first row and put 3 single crochet in each corner to make the edges round. Then depending on my mood I make different edges using different stitches.

The hardest part is using the awl to punch the holes!

The way I crocheted around fleece was to take the yarn and thread a large eyed needle and do a a blanket stitch around fleece. Then you can go back and crochet into each stitch. You can start with a sc as your 1st row then 2nd row do a dc in a shell pattern. to turn corners just increase st in what ever stitch you are doing

When I could crochet, I used sc.

I put crocheted edges on fleece blankets and dish towels. I also us an awl to make my holes for the first row.
The first row is simple single crochet around in the holes. The second row is a simple fan stitch (5 double crochet in a single crochet). So second row is single crochet, skip a couple of stitches, 5 double crochet in the next single crochet, skip a couple and single crochet in the next, then make a fan in the next stitch, just keep going. Is this as clear as mud! I think I want to try one of the
skip stitch blades. Sure would make life easier.

If you go to google and type in crochet edge fleece blanket and then click on images there are ALL different kinds of stitches that you can use to do this and there are all different ways that you can trim the corners, fron square, rounded, scalloped, you name it. Take your pick!

If you go to the Project linus website you will find instructions as well as ordering information for a rotary blade that will cut the holes into the fleece for you. It is super easy to do and they always come out beautiful!

I saw a new blade on Nancys Notions that cuts the holes for you..

Go to the last blade on page.

This sounds like a smart idea. Doing it this way would allow me to try it out before investing in a new rotary blade. Hmmm, something to think about. I want to make 3 of these for baby niece/nephews Christmas gifts.

    Thanks everyone!!
