Smile Fleece Pet Squares Question Please

Hi ..I would love your thoughts on this please.
I have been making pet beds....just plain squares....with fleece and 100% polyester batting. They come out ok and shelters and other places that I have donated them to seem to like them but I noticed that after washing and drying (for my own kitty) they become a little limp which is not so bad I guess but was wondering if I should try 80 cotton / 20 polyester batting instead. I don't have much experience using the 80/20 but I know a lot of people use it Is it more durable that 100% polyester and would it be a little firmer? I would use two or three layers like I do with the polyester batting.

Thanks so much for any thoughts. I always get great ideas from this group.

Do you quilt it, too? If so, quilt it more densely. I use leftover pieces of fleece as batting, as well. My favorite combo is scrap outdoor fabric with fleece or batting in it.

Our shelter likes them with the polyester batting because they can wash them and they dry quickly. We do not quilt them, just two squares of fabric with the batting. We use the stitch and flip method, that way we're sure the batting gets caught in the stitches.

I get why the shelter wants them to dry quickly - less time and $$ spent. Not sure whether quilting the dog beds more would change that. Maybe do test at home?

Check this site out pillowsforpaws.org This is how I make mine, our group doesn't make anything else for the shelters.
