Another thing that helped me was putting a net over the spool of thread I was using on the top (the monofiliment poly) and using a thread stand. It gave the top thread more time to unwind.

Also, suggest you make sure hasn't come out of tension discs. When I get long eyelashes on the back that is usually my problem. The thread has slipped out of the discs.

I have to set my top tension way up. And remember not too go too fast on curves too!

I agree Kozigirl01. Each time I checked it had slipped out. When your machine starts sounding a little weird when sewing, rethread the top.

I'm not a FMQ expert, but it looks like the loops appear whenever you are making a swoop, changing direction. What I have been told it try real hard to keep you speed even when you do that. People have a tendency to speed up in the curve! When I pay attention to that advise, my stitching is much better.

Yep, you're moving too fast around those curves. I've been FMQ on my home machine for years and still do it. You have to remember to s-l-o-w down around the curves!

I had the same problem ... slow down! I was told to put the machine at the highest speed & move fabric slowly. That does not work for me! I think it's an individual "feel" and only you can determine what is perfect for you. I slowed my machine down to medium speed so I feel more in control and it works for me! Also I had to tighten my top tension more than I thought to get the perfect stitch. I changed from an open toe foot to a round darning foot, made sure my "quilting" needle was brand new and same thread in top & bottom. Hope that helps.

Being fairly new I have never heard of the bobbin buddies. Will they work in a drop in bobbin case? I have just tried FMQ and it is hard to get the feet and hands working together. Any hints will be greatly appreciated
