I was intimidated by stippling for years. Stippling is much harder I feel than a FM stencil. With a stencil, you have a line to follow. Don't ever be rushed in quilting. Be sure your chair is at the correct height. I always thought of what a jig saw puzzle pieces looked liked. Good luck.

Does your foot have an open toe? If not, and it's plastic, you can simply cut away the front bar and this will help you see exactly where that needle is - and where you're heading.

I tend to be guilty of small tight stitches every so often - I think I forget to move the fabric while I think - my multitasking capabilities are obviously slowing with age, lol.

    Happy quilting!
    Thanks for the comments.
It's interesting that you mention the plastic foot. Mine is closed and I kept thinking...........'wish I could see a bit ahead'.
I have 2 FMQ 'foots', both closed. I am going to cut one of them.

    Thanks.

Yes, you do need to be relaxed. I tend to rush and that is a no-no when learning to FMQ. I have also tried to mentally picture the shape of jigsaw puzzle pieces and it does help. Practice, practice and more practice is needed.

    Thanks for your comments.
