So below are my latest...I have NOT ventured to doing an entire quilt so I'm doing the squares individually and then piecing together - the entire quilt is in the picture section but I'm getting the hang of the free hand design.

Hubby took me to JoAnns (I think to make up for the garage as a sewing room fiasco) and I bought a stencil so I'll try that tomorrow!!

This FM is looking good to me. I feel like I'm still in
    pre-school with how mine looks.

LOL - a few things I figured out

pedal speed MATTERS - if I go to slow the stitches are too big or they get stuck underneath....

when you get yourself cornered and can't see the back of the material - duh just turn the material...

I spray a tiny bit of dk5 on the plate and work surface and my material glides easily - can get about 8 10x10 squares done before I have to spray again.....

and don't grip the material...I had a death hold on it and everything puckered...I relaxed my fingers and it flowed....

I always look and read everyone's advice but I'm always thinking "well - I'm a doofus so it won't work for me"...this time - these tips worked! I'm probably still a doofus but the tips everyone has given work!

    Nice job.
How will you piece the squares together so you do not have unfinished edges where they join?

Congratulations on graduation. Doesn't that just roll off the tongue like jello? You are doing a great job. I have been trying it for years and still not that good. Love your pink, green and white fabrics. Another question, what is dk5?
