I fold twice so that I can make a shorter cut.

However, I have to spend a lot of time making sure that my fabric is lined up correctly to avoid "the v."

    Cheers, K

I fold twice and usually have no problem but I do make sure that the fabric is smooth. The slot ruler is really a time saver but it can be sort of tricky to make sure you are using the right slot since you have to ADD. (LOL.) Buy the bigger one since it allows you to start cutting off the fabric. Also as someone mentioned- mark your slots needed with blue tape so can be noticed easily!

I mark all my rulers with blue tape. Right now I have 4" cuts for a baby quilt and 5" for the pinwheel project going on, so I've marked two different rulers.

i fold twice but i always snip least 1 inch from the edge and tear first. you'll be amazed at how far off some cuts are. its fairly easy to straighten the fab and get straight cuts once you do this.
