My DH and I have been iced and snowed in for days and I decided to make a quilt top while stuck. I was so proud of myself - I picked out a pattern (I was going to follow one this time!) I selected the fabrics - then I read over all the instructions for cutting. I cut up all the fabric and when I went to start sewing I realized I had cut the fabric wrong - I had cut strips all to 3 1/2" width and most were to be 6 1/2" wide. (How dumb can you get!) Anyhow after being discouraged and disgusted with myself I decided it was a perfect opportunity to make something totally different! I'm doing a D9P. I am such a control hog that it's really quite liberating to be going totally random.

Those of you that are as anal as I can be should give it a try! It's looking beautiful and I can hardly believe I've done it.

Good things really do come when you least expect them. Here's to more snow and ice.

It's great that you decided to use them anyway for something else, instead of giving up on it.

That is called a creative adjustment. you never make mistakes in quilting, you just find something else to sew.

I'm glad you could turn it into something else.
