My mom loved receiving magazines and paid all the invoices when they came. The next thing I knew, her house was filled with duplicate issues, magazines she never had time to read, and she didn't know why they kept coming. Sadly, dementia was starting. When I took over her finances, it was startling to realize that over a one-year period, she had paid out over $2,000 in magazine subscriptions and it took me another year to get them stopped.

I'm calling again today.....or oops, they don't work on Saturdays or Sundays.
    Frustrated in TX.
If it's on a credit card, I would write a letter to the credit card company challenging the billing. That seems to get the attention of a company long enough for them to fix it!

Thanks everyone for your responses. I will look up the # and give them a call.
I have let EVERY subscription I had for quilting and other specialty magazines expire - and now ONLY buy those that I see at the newstand that I want.....

    REASON?????

EVERY BLOODY MONTH, the magazines would be on the newstands days or weeks before my THEIR errors is time I could have been spending quilting, or something that I truly want to do in the limited free time I have.

Is it convenient to have magazines delivered? Certainly - but that is not worth the delays etc.that I have had to put up wtih........The "savings" after your initial year are not generally enough to warrant putting up with all of the other stuff.........

[quote=Granna of 5][quote=ToucanSam]Well, on a related note, I subscribed to Southern Living 2 months ago. I have yet to receive ONE issue. I called today to cancel and the representative told me that it could take 30-60 DAYS to get my paid subscription refunded!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's a funny one. I started getting Southern Living which I never wanted and never ordered. I wrote, emailed and tried to call, all to no avail. I am still getting So. Liv. and simply donate it to a thrift store. At least someone is getting good use out of it. So far I have received six issues. And NO bill. Go figure.

The same thing happened to me with F&P. I paid for 3 yr's and after 1 yr I started getting renewal notices! I ignored them and I still get my magazine.

One of our local quilting shops lets customers put their old magazines on a "free" table. Anyone that comes in is welcome to take them. Another one (that has a LOVELY retreat center) puts them in the retreat center for the quilters to help themselves from or to use for inspirations. I bought 11 grocery bags of old quilting magazines on a garage sale and have spent many hours going through them. Thrift shops will also take them if you have too many.

How can they do that without your permission????
They can and will do that because you gave them permission to take it the first time. I had this problem with other magizibes and finally stop them all. Then only sent them checks when I wanted to order them.

I subscribed to Quilters Home because it was supposed to be different & funny. Different it was but not funny. The main man is crude & rude. It took me 4 months & 4 letters to get my money refunded for issues not sent. Of course by then the subscription was almost up. I told members of my quilt guild, so that will be a few $ he won't get.
