I sew barefooted but depending on the height of my chair and where I am sitting I elevate my foot. and that actually helps keep the foot pedal from moving unless I move it when I get up or something.

I use a small box that I cut one side out of and put my pedal in. That way it can't get away from me because the box butts up against the bottom of my sewing cabinet!

Wow, you guys are brave to sew barefooted. I drop way to many pins to let my bare feet touch the ground. The moving foot pedal problem bugged me for years. My new machine just has a push button that I just love. No foot control required.

I have a silicone hotpad under mine. Works great.

I use the rubber drawer liner. Works like a charm.

There is a rubber skip proof that you can buy at Joann's that you put under carpets to prevent them from skidding and that works for the foot too. I like the idea of the box too.

One of my best quilting buddies showed me what she does. She puts the pedal on the floor upside down! It works, too. You could always put something under it like no-slip stuff used for throw rugs.

I bought a Pedal Sta at a regional quilting show. Not sure I'd pay that much again, since learning the method above.

That's what I do! I place the heel of my foot on the railing of the chair and use the front of my foot to press the petal.
