    I've been thinking of making something similar. In high school orchestra, the cello players had a board with a hole in it to keep the cello from 'travelling.' The board was about 2' long and 6" wide. The hole on one end was for the chair leg, and the hole on the other end was for the 'pin' on the bottom of the cello.
    I think something like that, but with a square cut out for the foot pedal would work.
    In the meantime, I'm going to the dollar store for a mouse pad!
