Just keep saying to yourself "I'm making a silk purse out of a sow's ear" then slap a label on that puppy that says "designed by........... handcrafted by........." and let it go.

I am also a big fan of the reward system.I am working on a quilt right now that isn't what I want to be doing. My nephew is paying me to make a quilt for him. I have way too many nieces and nephews to make one for all of them. I have promised myself a reward of working on a quilt I have really been wanting to make but wouldn't let myself make until several more of my UFO's are finished. Chocolate is good too.

Reward system and a little at a time In between times make a block or two in s-g you love ( I would paper piece a couple of small log cabins in Kaffe Fassett and Amy butler fabrics to pamper myself with those goegeus colors). You'll be done before you know it, with TWO projects done!

I have more than one sewing machine. I put this quilt on one machine and my favourite project on another. Easy every 20mins on the dislike followed by 40mins on like. And I between chocolate biscuits . When I make for my nephews at age 8 and 3 the older designed colours and pattern. He came and picked fabric and then drew up pattern. 3 year old listened then drew dinosaurs on a paper and kept putting squares round. Both quilts were loved and both boys had I put plus sewing parts of them. Could you include her during the process as I did.

Sometimes you just have to get on with it! I've had days when I just didn't want to work on a particular project, even though I knew it needed to be finished in a particular time frame. So I would make myself do "just one block" and sometimes I would end up doing more, other times I did at least get that block done. And (true confession time here) sometimes it just sits there staring at me still. Lol.
Good luck on getting it done quickly so you can quit dreading it.

Thank you, everyone, for your tips. Yes, chocolate will be a good incentive. I think I will try to incorporate many of your ideas. After my son's doctors appointment this morning, I'll prepare the lettering for applique. Chocolate while I sew one of my BOM blocks. Then work on placement of the lettering. Chocolate and another BOM block...hey, this could work!

Well, if there is not a really close deadline, I would pick a project I love and tell myself that for every 1/2 hour I work on the fun one, I would do the same amount of time on the other. Try to put the "not" fun one first, then you can look forward to the one you want to play with.
