my elderly parents are living with me so when it came time for me to take a vacation i arrange a few extra days to go to dallas, hit the quilt shops and sew a little. i loaded my old sewing machine in the trunk and took along a few projects. after 3 days in dallas i'll fly out for the rest of the vacation.

the quilt shops have been fun even though the traffic is insane. the sewing...not so much. i forgot the cord and pedal! so, i can just sew by hand. drat.

That sounds like something I would do. Oh well, you still got to visit the quilt shops.

Drove an hour for a quilt class one time and did the same thing! Luckily she was also a dealer and had a spare for me to borrow.

I'm sorry but I had to laugh. I went to a quilting class once without the cord!

i did laugh about it. not gonna tell anybody at home what i did! i made the circuit of quilt shops and then went to harry hines blvd where there are some fabric "wholesalers". golden d or had some quiliting fabric on clearance for 1.99 yd. really! i found some fabric i'd seen in quilt magazine and one in particular that i hadn't been able to find but really wanted. it was some good stuff, not a lot of selection, but way way better than the walmart $2 a yard.

i had a fun time looking and some buying. i also went to sam moons, a costume jewelry and hand bag store. of course, i bought some stuff.

having a good time so far and leave for nicaragua tomorrow morning. won't be quilting there!
