I would leave it whole and take it to the laundry mat. If there are any bugs, they can have them. You don't want them in your house. I would use extra bleach on it to help kill any germs and hot hot water.

I'd take it to the laundry and throw it in one of the large machines whole. If you are worried about bugs do you really want to handle it to cut it?

Figured I would cut it outside. It looks just fine---just like it was just cut but when I find something at the thrift store I figured best to be safe with the bedbug scare going on. One of the ladies that volunteers there is the one who told me a while back she recommends that everything be washed before stored in the house.

Thanks all----great input--I figured it would be useful for backing as who really needs 13 yards? I was told muslin is not something that is used much in quilting anymore but I think for backing it would be just fine. I am not super picky.

A Great find , but if your worried about say bed bugs , they can
get into your car and then you will be bringing them in of your car seats are purse setting there in your car..Something to think about .

I have decided that my post sounded like I was way too concerned about bugs---honestly was more concerned about reasonable amts to cut it down to before washing. I thought maybe all 13 yards was a bit too much to try to wash in my front loader machine. Anyway, thanks for all the tips. I am just thrileeld about the amt of fabric I got for 4.00. Obvious to me the person who priced it had no idea how much it would cast at the store.
