    just to add=== a fq is not always 18"x22" they are in the perfect world- but in the rest of the world they simply depend on the fabric on the bolt. a fat quarter is cut by cutting a 1/2 yard of fabric off the bolt then cutting that 1/2 in half at the fold. so if your fabric is 40" wide your fq will be 18"x20" but if your fabric is only 36" wide (which is where some is going) your fq would be 18" square- but still a fq. and going the other way- once in awhile you will find fabric that is 54-60" wide---with those a fq is 18"x 27"-30"
    and if you prewash- your fq will be smaller yet.
