Fractals
#1
I was recently alerted this lady's work http://www.roserushbrooke.com/lydia-...uction-01.html by a good friend of mine and have been googling around looking at fractal imagery. The idea of creating a fractal quilt has really captured my imagination. I was wondering if anyone had made one, thought about making one, seen one or had any other thoughts on the subject. 8-) :-D
Here's what Google images came up with http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=fra...=com.microsoft:en-gb:IE-SearchBox&rlz=1I7ACAW_en&prmd=ivns&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=MMLgTd3HL5CZhQe5nsG7Bg&ved=0CDIQsAQ&biw=1916&bih=877 cool eh?! 8-) 8-) 8-)
And check out Rose Rushbrooke's Gallery http://www.roserushbrooke.com/fractal-art-quilts-1.html

wow, I have looked at a few sites for fractial quilts, and they look amazing, I would like to try one but, would need a quilt buddy to help me, The idea of completing one seems great, doing the actual work would require patiance and maybe a skill level I do not have, I like the idea of making one, but would really need a lot of dierection....I might buy a book and look at the pictures for a long time before I got the courage totry one.....they are amazing..

Yes, I have thought about it but not making an actual fractal quilt, instead using the repetitive fractal designs found in nature as quilting motifs. I had posted about fractals and quilting a couple of years ago after an episode of the science show Nova did a whole episode on fractals. What is so mind blowing is that they appear everywhere in nature.

That's what I loved about them - the beauty of a mathematical pattern found in nature - I had a look at some freeware programs but I'll have to wait for DH to have the time to help me work them!
