The class was very worth the investment.
John Deere has some of the most beautiful Lace Designs for Emb. I made my DGD's Ring bearer pillow and used those Lace designs on it.

I use www.embroidables.com They digitize beautifully and always have some type of sale. Also you can download your designs over and over again (in case your computer crashes)

What thread do you use for softness of the lace? what stabilizer, wash away? These are beautiful. I have one more daughter to get married.

I think it was Rayon thread. And the water soluble mesh stabilizer. Then you put them in a crock pot and cook on low overnight. Rince very well. They come out so soft and lacy. They drape beautifully.

If you go to "Marthapullen.com" & register you can then go to the forums & the Machine Embroidery forum. The members there list free designs sites each month. The downside of the site is they get allot of spam posts, especially on weekends....ignore any posts that don't have replies listed.

I have hundreds of free designs I've downloaded. If you want to do this you should set up a special folder & in that folder make sub-folders for each site you get designs from. It can get a tad confusing trying to remember where you got the designs & what type you downloaded. Copyright issues...most digitizers do not allow you to make items from free designs to sell.

I would say my fav site would be Embroidery Library. They offer free designs every month & many project ideas with instructions. Their designs are more dense that other sites are tho, so many would not be useful for thin fabrics, like quilt cottons, unless you use heavy stabilizers. You'd want to choose less dense designs for quilts.

Cheap embroidery designs are at http://www.emblibrary.com. They've got tons of them and you can sign up for their newsletter, birthday club and Christmas club. You will then get free designs on your b/d.
    My favorite site.

    . . .
Also - Martha Pullen has an Embroidery Club that run about $60 for a year - each year has a variety of designs, alphabets and bonus designs. I have done this for several years. The designs are beautiful and stitch out beautifully!
