    Excellent point!

I tried the gloves and wasn't happy with them. Then I found a nifty gadget called the Quilt Sew Easy Discs and am delighted with them.

Yes, that's the brand I use and recommend, they are the best investment. Just splurge and buy the gloves.
    Kind Regards,

I just bought a pair of gardening gloves from the $ store. Has rubber nubbies on the fingers and palm I think it will work.

I watched a Ricky Tims show where Phillipa Naylor free motion quilted on a domestic machine. She used a piece of shelf liner laying flat on the quilt top(the kind that looks almost like woven) a little bit larger than her hand. She finds it more convenient if needing to pick up something than taking a glove off. Worth trying?

I'm in the free motion foot and walking foot category. That's all I need. And a practice "sandwich" that sits beside my sewing machine to so I can "get into the swing of things" before every time I start to quilt. Gets me in the mood and the motion. I can't use gloves, although the banking fingers are sometimes helpful (they don't fit on all ten fingers, though). I, too, like acrylic extended table. And music is a must! Stephen Halpern CD's bring out the creative part of me and help me relax, which is really important in free motion quilting.
